I first got the idea for creating state wall hangings made from license plates during a visit to a West Virginia welcome center. There, I met a craftsman who made similar pieces for all the WV welcome centers. I was in middle school in Florida at the time, and he kindly walked me through his process and encouraged me to give it a try.
What began as a fun hobby quickly became a way to earn a little extra money and connect with people at local craft festivals. I started setting up at weekly farmers markets and community events around Florida. After moving to Tennessee, I began selling at the Knoxville Expo Christmas Fair and various car shows. Eventually, I decided to create a website to share my work year-round and reach a wider audience.
Each piece I make is crafted from authentic automobile license plates and mounted on plywood backing with smooth, safe edges. Every state includes a wire hanger for easy display. One of the things I enjoy most is watching visitors in my booth search for the state that holds the most meaning to them—whether it’s where they were born, where they live now, or a place they’ve called home along the way. These pieces often spark happy memories, and it’s a privilege to create something that brings people joy.
